Two days after a man with a mask knocked on his door, he identified himself as a police officer and opened fire against them, John E Yvette Hoffman are recovering and “both incredibly fortunately fortunate to be alive,” said his family in a statement.

“We continue our healing trip and we are humiliated by the effusion of love and the support that our family has received from the entire State and our nation,” the family said in a statement obtained by ABC News.

The couple said they had “deep and deep” gratitude for the work of the officials responsible for enforcing the law that tracked the suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, after Friday’s shooting.

Police alleged that Boelter shot and killed the state representative of Minnesota Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and shot the Hoffman, according to the documents obtained by ABC News.

Boelter has been accused of two murder positions and two positions of murder attempt, with the second set of charges related to the shooting at Hoffman’s house. It is due in court on Monday.

Vance Boelter, 57, was arrested near his farm in Green isle, Minnesota.

The judicial records filed in Hennepin County, Minnesota, say that the son of a state legislator initially made the call at 2:05 am that his parents had been shot.

“The defendant knocked on the door and announced himself as a police officer before entering the house and shooting victims 3 and 4,” according to judicial documents. According to judicial records, it is believed that Hoffmans are victims 3 and 4.

Hennepin County prosecutor said that because a state legislator was proactively shot by the Chamber of another state legislator, Hortman’s, who was a former speaker.

“When the officers reached approximately 3:35 AM, they saw the SUV Ford with police -style lights and immediately saw the defendant, still dressed as a police officer, they shot an adult man referred to in this document as a victim 2 through the open door of the house,” according to judicial records.

When the officers registered Boelter’s vehicle, they allegedly found at least three AK-47 assault rifles, a 9 mm gun, as well as a list of names and addresses of other public officials.

The Hoffman family in his statement said that “there was never a place for meaningless political violence and loss of lives.”

“We are devastated by the loss of Melissa and Mark, and our hearts are with all those who knew and loved them,” the statement. saying. “We are always at our best when we join together.”
